All-State for BCMS

This year, KYACDA All-State is on November 8-9 in Lexington, Kentucky for those selected to participate.  It is sure to be an amazing experience!

I hope that everyone will consider auditioning for this amazing group! Come see Mr. Lucas for Audition information and dates. Auditions will be due September 10!

For 7th, 8th, & 9th graders and elementary guys with changed voices, follow the KYACDA Audition Procedure.  Here is a copy of it:

At the start of the audition, the STUDENT should say their name, grade and voice part (e.g. Jane Doe, 8th Grade, Soprano 2). They will then complete the 3 audition requirements.

1. A major scale (UNACCOMPANIED) ascending then descending, using solfege. Teacher plays starting pitch. Students cannot hum the pitch.

Soprano……F major

Tenor………F major (or a comfortable key within reason)

Alto…………D major

Bass……….C major

2. America (“My Country ‘Tis of Thee”) UNACCOMPANIED, Teacher plays starting pitch. Student cannot hum the pitch.

Soprano I: Starting Pitch G

Soprano II: Starting Pitch F

Alto: Starting Pitch D

Tenor: Starting Pitch F (or a comfortable key)

Bass: Starting Pitch D

3. Audition Excerpt – from Deo Dicamus Gratias by Victor Johnson (mm. 34-47). It is UNACCOMPANIED – Teacher plays starting pitch only. Students cannot hum the pitch. Students must sing on the text given.
