School House Rock Live, Jr! Audition Materials

       If you would like to audition for one of the lead roles in our school musical this year, there are links to download a copy of the audition material below. You will also find an audio recording of the audition material!   (IMPORTANT:  With the exception of the “Elvis” role, you don’t have to try to sound like the person on the recording!  You need to sound like YOU!  Sing how YOU would sing it!)

For BOYS auditioning for a lead role, there are 4 choices.  Each of those choices needs to prepare the SPEAKING audition found below:

 

SPEAKING Audition

Then, there is an additional SINGING audition for all leading roles except for the part of Tom.  You don’t have to sing the entire song, just the part marked on the audition material.  These are found below:

  1. TOM–only has speaking parts; no singing audition is required.  He is the “teacher” in the musical and is the role that begins the show.

 

2.  GEORGE–has speaking parts (prepare the speaking audition above), and sings parts in “Three is a Magic Number” and “I’m Just a Bill.” (IMPORTANT: If you are a boy whose voice is higher than what you hear on the recording, that’s okay!  Just sing the song IN YOUR OCTAVE!)

3.  JOE–has speaking parts (prepare the speaking audition above), and sings parts in “Conjunction Junction” and “Great American Melting Pot.” (IMPORTANT: If you are a boy whose voice is lower than what you hear on the recording, that’s okay!  Just sing the song IN YOUR OCTAVE!)

4.  “ELVIS“–has a few speaking parts (prepare the speaking audition above), and sings parts in “Circulation” (IMPORTANT: If you are a boy whose voice is higher than what you hear on the recording, that’s okay!  Just sing the song IN YOUR OCTAVE!   But you need to try to sing like Elvis Presley would sing!)
